In 1980, I soloed Thorong Peak in Nepal, which is just over 20,000 feet. I froze my right foot, and in the attemptto hike out, it led to a blood infection. I ended up with an abcess that took 6 weeks to close, and circulation problems for life. I continued to ski and ice climb, but my feet always quickly went numb and cold, as my body was quite willing to cut off circulation. It caused an immense amount of worry and pain.
Last year (2006), a friend told me about the Heat Factory footbeds with the little heat pack that slides into the window. The result was unbelievable. My feet were NEVER cold again. I didn't need to wear such bulky clothes. My hands stayed warmer. With my greater comfort, my confidence increased greatly, and my climbing abilities soared. I love you guys.
